Fair Day

Donna, Chad, and I took Kate to the State Fair on Friday. She loved the animals, the corn dogs (she ate a whole one), and the strawberry ice cream. She played a little fishing game and won herself a stuffed monkey. Kate had a hard time making up her mind about the prize. There were one million stuffed animals hanging up there and she could not make her mind to save her life. Guess she gets that from her mom. She actually was more interested in the little plastic fish she had fished out of the pond with the net. We tried putting her on a little boat by herself when we got there, and she cried the whole way around. The lady gave us our ticket back, and Kate didn't finish the ride. I tode on a little train with her next, and she loved it. Chad got on the "Wiggly Worm" with her. It was a tiny roller coaster type ride that had the littlest dip you had ever seen. Kate hated it! Every time it would dip she would start screaming and crying. Nonnie rode on a little boat ride with her next...no dips, just around the pond. She hated it, too. She would not get on any more rides. Still when we ask her about the fair, she says in her sweetest two year old voice that always melts my heart, "I didn't want that worm."

Chad started at ARCap this week. So far he loves it. The perks are a big screen TV and recliners in the lounge, all the free cokes you can drink, and getting to wear jeans every day. He has met with several of the men he will be working with, and everyone is really nice. It seems there will be lots of opportunities for him there. Good to see him so excited about it. It always amazes me to look back and see how God has answered our prayers. The job hunting process is grueling, and there are a lot of disppointments and asking why along the way. God has truly put him in a place better than we would have imagined or asked for. It always pays to be patient and wait on God's best. Seems I should have learned that by now, but I am always put the test when it comes to faith and patience. There will be harder even more trying times ahead...that is certain, but we will have to put a bookmark on this chapter of our lives to remind us of God's presence and care of our family. He deserves all the glory for where we are today.
